Do Men Really Prefer Blond Girls?

Men Really Prefer Blond Girls

Blonde hair. Maybe you were born with it, or maybe you’ve hit the coloring solution to have flowing, blonde tresses. If hitting the bottle is not your thing, I don’t blame you. Hair chemicals can damage the scalp and make hair dry and brittle. I’ve never been blonde, but I have felt that my blonde friends have had some advantages over my jet black tresses. I couldn’t help but wonder if there was any scientific evidence to prove that “Gentlemen Prefer Blonds”.

That is when I stumbled upon a book, Do Gentlemen Really Prefer Blondes, by Jena Pincott. In an interview with Jena on Oprah.com, Gayle was just as intrigued by the “really prefere blond” phrase as I was. During this interview, Jena Pincott revealed that women with blond hair do have a slight edge over women with other hair colors. Does that mean we should all change our hair color? No, stay where you, we’ve got you covered.

Blonds do have a slight advantage of brunettes. In some cultures, blonds are the minority and stand out from the brunettes, especially when visiting countries like Africa and China. Meanwhile, back in Queens, New york, blond hair also represents health, fertility, and femininity. What most people don’t know is that hair is an open book to your health. “Hair is a track record of your health,” said Jena Pincott “It takes years to grow long, thick hair.” She also added that shoulder-length hair indicates four years of well-nourished health.

Having blonde hair stands out in the crowd because the human eye is naturally attracted to light, and bright colors.According to a study by Polish psychologists, men clearly prefer blondes when judging the appearance of women older than 25. Another factor that can play a part in a man’s hair color preference is secual imprinting. According to an article that I found on the Daily Mail, a man has a bias towards a mate who resembles his parents. A man with a dark-haired mother might be more likely to choose a brunette for a long-term relationship.

Is it necessary to jump on the blond bandwagon? If you had to change your hair color to blond, how would you transform your naturally dark hair to the lighter side?

I have dark brown hair, although just this weekend I had highlights put in it. They are more golden, carmel color than blonde, but it looks a lot lighter than my natural color. When I was in high school, I had blonde highlights put in my hair and it looked really good. I don’t think I would ever go completely blonde though, I think I look better as a brunetter with some blonde highlights!

I was blond as a child, and then dirty blond. My husband prefers redheads. I dyed my hairs dark auburn for years, because I had hair that naturally picked up red highlights. I stopped coloring my hair about 4 years ago, and now for the most part love my white gray hair:)

I have “gone blond”. If your hair is as dark as mine IF AT HOME you have to bleach it first. THEN wait a week while conditioning it daily with an extreme therapy conditioner. THEN after that week is up you can lay a blond color that you like. It’s a process at home that takes 3 or more hours at a salon. It took two hours on my hair just to make it red.

I have natural black hair and their is no way I’d change the the color or style for anyone but myself. If anyone is going to love me then they are going to love me for who I am inside and and not for something as superficial as the color of my hair. If I ever did decide to go blonde I’d highlight it and would not color my whole head blonde

I don’t think men should date or marry a girl, or not date or marry someone, just because of her hair color. Looks are not everything. But then again, people can dye their hair whatever color they want. So marry the person you love for who they are and if you don’t like their hair color, it can be dyed.

Interesting. If I HAD to change my hair color, I think I would stay in the auburn/brown area just because of my complexion. I am, however, content with the long, thick, brown hair that God gave me, as is my husband, and do not like the yucky dyes anyways. :-)

My hair keeps getting darker since I got married, since I cover it, and it doesn’t get much sun exposure. But what is funny, my mother-in-law and my husband’s only sister are blonds, and my husband and his two brothers both married brunettes. My mother and I (the only girl in my family) are both brunette, and two of my brothers married blonds. I have one single brother left. Intriguing to see whom he will choose to marry in the future…

I’ve gone blond for fun with pretty cheap hairdyes, and it turned out fine. As far as guys preferences, I think it just depends on the woman more than the hair…Maybe you think you look better as a blond, have more confidence, and thus guys gravitate toward you. But no, I don’t think that guys have much of a preference.
